CRC grabs Super-Regional opener in 14

By Citizen Sports Staff Courtesy CRC Athletics Cosumnes River’s Chelsea Martinez Cosumnes River College had to go 14 innings Friday, but the Hawks were able to pull out a 5-4 win over Ohlone College to open the four-team CCCAA Super Regional series. Veronica Smith singled in Nalani Scates with the winning run in the 14th. But, it was an exciting 12th inning where both clubs scored two runs apiece that put fans on the edge of their seats. Miranda Rodriguez had four hits to pace CRC’s 17-hit attack. Lindsey Lambert was three-for-five with a home run and two RBI’s. Brittany Baroni pitched the first 11 innings before giving way to Ashleigh Berg who polished off the final three innings and picked up the win.
