Mission “I GOT YOUR BACK!”
………a simple statement that is the tenant of the mission of NorCal Press. The tenant is present in everything we do, as our players are encouraged to support one another on and off the court. We encourage and demonstrate an understanding of family, team and community. Our players are also developing discipline through hard work, character and perseverance – all while having a great time playing the game of basketball.
What we do?
We are a small nonprofit organization focused on health and wellbeing for youth through basketball. We foster health and wellbeing for our youth through direction, coaching and mentoring. Our players are recruited or selected through tryouts and are taught advanced basketball skill as well as participate in strong conditioning. Youth work with established and experienced youth basketball coaches that have played basketball beyond high school. We are a member of the Amateur Athletic Union; therefore we compete at a level well beyond recreational youth basketball.
How we do it?
Our players meet at minimum, twice a week for hard work! Many of our players also work with individual trainers focused on position, technique or fundamentals. Our players elevate their game through competitive play and post-game learning, in partnership with our coaches – through wins and losses. NorCal Press also encourages community engagement by giving back through “sweat equity”. Our team participates in periodic volunteer efforts; listen to youth speakers, educational opportunities and more.
Whom do we do it for?
NorCal Press serves players from all over the Sacramento Region. We invite student athletes to be a part of NorCal Press. Grades are important! This includes youth from some of our most underserved areas – as we believe every youth should have an opportunity.
What values do we bring?
Our Coaches encourage our youth to internalize their parents rules and values, hard work, the concept of team, perseverance, the concept of family and how to be a good community citizen – all through the game of basketball!
